Exploring Downtown Phoenix

"We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open."

Mesa Light Rail

A few weeks ago we took a little random adventure into downtown Phoenix with our family. We thought it would be fun to let the kids ride the new Lightrail and play tourists in our own town. We love discovering new places, and it's always exciting to see your own city come alive during the different seasons. And around here, spring time is the best!

Whenever we get a free chance, we try to get out and explore. Sometimes it's a little walk to a new place, and other times we venture far and wide. We don't always make structured plans or map it out...we often just go with it, and somehow it always turns out fun. And today proved to be no different!

As we walked down the streets of Phoenix we noticed that Heritage Square was packed, so we wandered closer and discovered the Matsuri Japanese festival. It was full of live music, beautiful dancing, delicious food, and all kinds of fun and culture for the kiddos to see.

On our way back, we stopped by St. Mary's Basilica and took a look around. It's the oldest Catholic church in Phoenix, and the grounds and architecture are beautiful.

We also walked through the awesome Desoto Central Market on Roosevelt Row's Art District, and ate the yummiest pizza at Bianco's (more on that coming next week!)

Little by little I'm falling more in love with this city, it's beauty, and all the history it holds!
