Sunday afternoons are kind of our thing around here. Sometimes it's lunch and laughter with good friends, and other times it's random adventures...following the road wherever it leads.
March and April are those sweets spots where the Arizona climate is just perfect, so right now we are trying to sneak in every second of enjoying the outdoors before it gets too hot. This adventure called for the windows down, the radio up, and lots of exploring.
A few months ago we came across an old abandoned structure called Scorpion Gulch, and couldn't wait to check it out!!
After doing a little research, we discovered this structure was an old home/trading post built in the 1930's, and remained open until 1966. It has since been placed on the Historic Preservation Register.
The site is free and open to the public, and our kiddos had a blast discovering every inch of it!
After running around Scorpion Gulch for a while, we headed further up South Mountain. The view looking down on the city is just gorgeous! My husband and I never thought we'd be desert dwellers...but late at night when the world is quiet and we're up talking way too late, we can't help but feel the deepest sense of gratitude that we are here, and loving this city and it's people as much as we do!
I love that life never seems to turn out like we plan, and yet there is so much beauty to be found in the unexpected!
