A few months ago we met this beautiful family at church. They just moved here from Kentucky, and are about to have their second child. We instantly fell in love with them over dinner, and one night Emily text me to see if I'd be willing to take some family/maternity pictures for them before their little one arrived.
I have become smitten with photography over the last year, but have never shot anyone besides my own family, so I was a little nervous. But, they were as gracious as could be, and were the most easy going family I could have imagined.
Lily came along as my little assistant and I couldn't have been more grateful for her help. Most of Karis's smiles are due to Lily's insanely-awesome peek-a-boo skills.
As much fun as it was to take the pictures, I think my favorite part was editing them. During the actual shoot I was more focused on placement, lighting, and background details. So viewing the pictures after they were taken gave me a different perspective to appreciate. It's almost like I could see into the soul of each shot.......the way Emily's eyes would light up each time she'd look at Karis, and the way Michael's face would change when he held his girls close. It's the little things, you know?
Growing another little body within you is truly a beautiful thing. I think maternity shoots have forever won my heart. Little Jed is already so loved! Thank you Naak's for this experience and for giving me a little peek into your lives!
